Rob Pollock always knew he would end up back home. After graduating in 2017 from the highly regarded Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, Pollock started his law career in municipal law and prosecution as an assistant city attorney in Sedona, Arizona. A year later, he moved to Phoenix and worked two years in a private practice, working with a firm in a variety of corporate compliance, real estate, collections, and contractual issues.
While he enjoyed the work, the people and the sunshine in Arizona, Pollock could feel Michigan beating in his heart. He missed the green grass, four seasons and most of all his big extended family – his mom the youngest of 11 siblings.
“I knew I always wanted to come back to Michigan,” Pollock said. “I have a big family here in the Livonia area and we’ve always been very close. I always knew I would end up back with my roots here in Michigan.”
When Pollock sat down to interview with the prestigious Fausone & Grysko, PLC, he said he could feel his heart beating again, and its reputation as one of the state’s top law firms, along with the “family-like atmosphere,” soon ended up presenting him a lifelong dream – a one-way ticket home to join a new family and reconnect with an old family.
“Fausone & Grysko, PLC really appealed to me first because of its great reputation in Metro Detroit,” he said. “I worked in both the public and private sector and they offered the opportunity for me to work in both areas. I felt like there was a focus on high-quality work with a family atmosphere, and one of working together as a team, inspiring one another and pushing each other forward.
Founders James G. Fausone and Paul F. Bohn launched Fausone & Grysko, PLC in 1995. Located on Six Mile in Northville, Fausone & Grysko, PLC attorneys assist clients and businesses in a wide range of legal practice areas, including corporate and business law; real estate transactions and land use; environmental law; litigation; municipal law; criminal defense; family law; estate planning and probate; and veterans’ law.
Pollock, 30, was born and raised in Livonia and attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School. Before his short stint out west, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 2013 with a B.S. in Business Administration and a Certificate of Legal Studies.
Pollock concentrates his practice on municipal law, corporate/business law, real estate/HOA law, and criminal prosecution. One area he enjoys working in is helping potential small business owners navigate the somewhat murky and always changing laws and procedures required to opening a small business.
“It’s extremely rewarding to be a part of something where someone is giving back to the community and really enriching the community,” he said.
When it comes to starting a business, Pollock said that the biggest hurdle is often fear of the unknown and navigating regulations.
“We are here to help small businesses navigate through some of the red tape and regulations that are often needed just to get a small business off the ground,” he said. “Sometimes, it’s just a matter of having someone in your corner who understands the rules and regulations and has the experience to get you through it so you can realize that dream you may have always had of starting your own business.”
